Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute Concept

Jeep celebrates its 75th birthday this year and to commemorate this occasion, they’ve built the 75th Salute concept Wrangler at their plant in Toledo.

Back in June 15, 1941, Willys-Overland Motor Co was awarded the government contract to build the Willys MB for use in World War II. The original Willys MB sold for $749 a pop and the initial government order called for 18,000 units. After the war, Willys made a civilian version of the MB and years of rugged off roaders later has led us to this Wrangler Sport based concept model.

“We are creating this unique Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute concept vehicle in celebration of the brand’s legendary history, and to demonstrate that 75 years later, today’s iconic Wrangler is instantly recognizable and clearly connected to the original Willys MB,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand.

Instantly recognizable but with a slew of updates, the 75th Salute concept is sporting the iconic dark green paint, 16-inch steel wheels fitted with 32-inch military-grade non-directional tyres, steel front and rear bumpers.

Like the original Willys MB, the body is missing its B-pillars, doors, and roof frame. Jeep has even gone so far as to give the salute a bare metal floor and remove the headrests from the canvas seats. Powering this piece of nostalgia is a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Unfortunately, enthusiasts won’t be able to get their hands on one since it’s far from production spec so we’ll have to make due with pictures of it.

That's still an amazing price back then ! With today's inflation you're looking just over $12.2k. But I guess when you're buying in "bulk" like that, you get some discounts

That Wrangler looks cool as ever though, would love to drive around in one of those.

I want one! The iconic green just never really goes out of style, especially on a Wrangler body. Too bad Jeep doesn't plan on selling any of them because I'm sure there's a few enthusiasts out there who would want to get their hands on one.
