Jeep Wrangler Pickup Spied For The First Time

We havenít seen a pickup from Jeep since the Comancheís production ended in 1992 and ever since Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that the Jeep Wrangler Pickup is going to happen, weíve been anxiously waiting for some sort of visual confirmation. Now we have photographic evidence of the Wrangler pickupís existence with spy shots of a heavily camouflaged prototype.

Seen in the spy photos is what looks like a four door Wrangler Unlimited body with a truck bed attached to it but with how long the wheelbase is, it could suggest that this bed design may not be the final one making its way onto the production model. The overall size looks large, maybe similar to that of the 2013 AEV Brute Double Cab and the camouflaged bed looks to be around 5.5-feet in length.

What is prominent on the test mule are those next generation Wrangler grille slots. The seven-slot grille has larger spaces and thinner ribs, not the best change if Jeep wants to improve the Wranglerís aerodynamics.

As for whatís under that camouflaged hood, we can expect to see a gas powered V6 engine, a 300hp turbocharged four-cylinder code named hurricane, or maybe even an EcoDiesel engine. We donít know if these exact engines will make it into the pickup but we can safely assume that Jeep will have at least one gas and one diesel option available.

We still have a long while to wait because the pickup is expected to debut as a 2018 or 2019 model year vehicle.

i like how this is shaping up so far which seems it will target the type of crowd that usually gravitates to the F150 and others in the segment.

Now just can't wait to see what the rest of it will look like since there's a number of new things expected in the design, new tail lights being one of them.

I don't think I'd ever need a wrangler pickup but I'm sure enthusiasts out there would want one. If they can go wherever a Wrangler goes, then the pickup can be the vehicle following the line with emergency parts and everything you'll need to keep going.
