As you guys know once the JL Wrangler arrives, it will have the next iteration of UConnect which features Apple CarPlay along with Android Auto, bringing a level of ease and seamlessness that needs no introduction, unless you've been living under a rock.

With that being said, which one will you be using and why?

For an early look at what we'll be getting, spend a few minutes watching the following video:

Android Auto because I've been an Android user for quite some time. I'll typically be utilizing Spotify for music as that's my go to. I think the "why" for everyone will be because that's the platform of phone they've been using so it just makes sense. An Apple user won't want Android Auto and vice versa.
Android Auto for me, simply because that's the phone I use and I can't live without google maps. Most navigation systems can't compare to Google Maps and it's operating system is easier to use compared to apple. Also, iOS updates can wreak havoc with compatibility.

I'm the same way.
Ditched my iPhone a few year ago for a Samsung Note and ever since I couldn't go back to Apple, although the build quality and all is nice. But from a functionality, productivity, etc. standpoint its 10 times better. And looking into it more (as this will be my first time), apps like Google Now will be very useful, of course along with Google Maps... nothing can beat that.
Our responses makes me wonder if Wrangler owners are predominantly Android users, do we have a predisposition towards the android operating system because it's similar to a Wrangler in how we can customize and take it apart?
You know.. I never thought about that. As much as that makes a great point in our little sample size here, I do have 3 friends that are iPhone users and also have Wranglers. They're completely against Android so unfortunately that kind of deters that hypothesis.

However, that could be the relation for the Android to Wrangler opposed to predominantly Android users kinda thing.

It all comes down to needs and some people needs are met with iPhones others need the sort of multitasking and cross-platforms for content that Android offers, aside from that I see little real dependence on Android.

Plus not all truck/SUV/car enthusiasts are into doing much with their phones, the older ones at least.

So it's going to vary. We just need a good sample size to really see what the divide is like.
Maybe the upcoming Wrangler will have a new infotainment system. Google and Chrysler are working together to build a Uconnect system based on Android Nougat and it should allow us to fully access Google Assistant, Google Maps and other Android apps like Pandora, Spotify, NPR One and Pocket Casts.
Wellp, that answers that then lol. Thankfully, I'm an android user so that'll be a great help to me in convenience. I only use spotify for music on my phone as well :) So essentially iPhone users are out of luck ?!
Google and Chrysler seems to be more close knit that the automaker is with Apple, so Apple users may be out of luck when it comes to the newest carplay system.
It's going to happen either way with Apple since they are actively working self-driving technology and that tech plays into infotainment. We just have to keep waiting for confirmation.
