Car and Driver Curates "Visual History of the Jeep Wrangler, from 1986 to Present"

The Wrangler has its origins in World War 2 back in 1941. Since then there is a plentiful amount of images that document the nameplates style evolution. Car and Driver has pulled together a selection of images to show the visual history of the Wrangler. Here are some of those and a link to the full gallery.

Willys MB (1941-1945)

CJ series (1945-1985)

AMC sold to Chrysler, Wrangler (1987)

YJ Wrangler (1995)

Wrangler with Pentastar, 2012

I guess 1987 is when the Wrangler was being sold to the general public instead of being made for the army only? I'd like to get my hands on one of those classic wranglers from the war. I assume they were built to withstand a lot more back then.
