Jeep just recently released details on the European Wrangler, which will hit the market in September. It will be offered in two different engine options including a 2.0l turbo 4 cylinder petrol and a 2.2liter Multijet II turbo four cylinder diesel. The 2.0l petrol will offer 268hp and 295lb-ft of torque while the 2.2l diesel will have 197hp and 331lb-ft of torque. Initially the new JL will only be offered with the diesel engine, and the petrol will become available towards the end of the year.

So it looks the rumours around a diesel option we're indeed true. Interested to hear how the Wrangler sounds in this configuration. Certainly seems to have provided a significant boost to torque figures. Now lets just keep our fingers crossed that there aren't any issues with emissions.

It is slightly odd timing to release diesel variants now, when FCA has already announced electrification in the next few years. Though I suppose they have just pulled this engine from another vehicle in their lineup.
