I think it's the Green on the Gladiator Concept that makes it so appealing but the Jeep Wrangler JT looks like it's small enough to go where a normal wrangler can go. Both are great candidates. The Red Rock one is a nice concept but it just seems a bit too large for the mass market.

JK8 and JT aren't concepts, they're actual products. They sell the JT to the military and you can buy a JK-8 conversion kit at any time you please...

it seems pretty clear to me that the Wrangler pickup will look pretty much like the new Wrangler except with a pickup bed. We aren't going to get any of the interesting style features that are seen in some of these vehicles.

Won't be that hard to visualize anyways, and I highly doubt they'll go the length to make it look significantly different than the Wrangler.
Once we see the new Wrangler, if the truck isn't shown at the same time, we might see renderings of what the truck. They'll come close to the real deal I bet.

I guess that's fine though there is potential to do something more interesting if they wanted to invest the time and effort.

I'll be more interested in seeing how owners customize these, lifted with ram bars, big aggressive mud tires, and all that good stuff.

That's a good point. Jeep doesn't have to do a lot because customers will be more than eager to customize these themselves. There will likely be some really cool customer Wrangler pickups that we will see in due time.

It will also keep cost down, but who knows they could very well make the case for trims that include some of these, in the end those turn out to be a win for the consumer since getting all those goodies as a package is cheaper than if you were to get them individually.

Most important is the engine itself. Everything else can be modded but it's a pain to replace the engine with something you want.

Indeed. It's far more viable to just add to it, tunes, forced induction and little things like air intakes, exhaust systems, etc.
