Pickup Your Wrangler Pickup in 2017...

The Jeep Wrangler branded pickup truck is finally officially official after comments made by Jeep CEO Mike Manley and FCA patriarch Sergio Marchionne at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

Both confirmed Monday that the JL Wrangler would spawn a pickup truck derivative to be produced alongside the Wrangler in Toledo.

Mike Manley saying: “Sergio and I work very, very closely on the Jeep product portfolio, and both of us have been a fan of a potential Wrangler pickup... For me, there is a historical place in our lineup for it.”

According to the Detroit News more details should emerge later in the month when Saint Sergio outlines FCA's newest 5 year plan. It will be interesting to see where they gain the excess capacity at Toledo. They already sell every Wrangler they pump out, so either they'll need to move Cherokee production elsewhere or divert some Wrangler production into pickups.

We'll know more shortly...

I just don't see how that is an actual announcement and confirmation. "There is a historical place in our lineup for it," is not, "we have begun the development process in creating a Wrangler pickup."

Enough, all you needed to do was a little googling...

’ll confirm it for you. We will build a Wrangler pickup, shortly after the launch of the Wrangler, of the new Wrangler which should be operational sometime by the end of next year. And just broadly, the car is done, the car is designed and it’s been engineered. So we just need to get off our butts and start producing it.
Sorry I didn't Google it again after looking into it the first time. Good to see this actual confirmation now. Thanks for posting it.
Having been designed and engineered by now hopefully we can get a look at it on the road through spy shots, leaked image or even a teaser.
I dont think it will look like the American Expedition Vehicles "Brute" pictured, though. I hope it does! AEV makes a nice conversion kit.
