Now this is something very different. As much as I appreciate rugged and the whole rat rod look, I certainly am not someone that would own one. This one was made for a hunter by Vilner and it's called the "Jeep Wrangler Hunting Unlimited"
Other than the obvious on-purpose rust job, the interior was re-done, fox suspension components added, a winch, and 37" BFG Krawler T/A tires were added.
It's certainly unique and catering to certain tastes... At least some thieves will pass up on a vehicle that looks rusted so it could be somewhat of a theft deterrent. But all that leather, pretty much every surface is covered in the stuff and it makes me wonder why.
This certainly erks me. The interior is absolutely horrendous in my opinion. So many different types of leather and textures and nothing goes together with anything. I understand it's for a hunter and they like that stuff (typically) but darn... that's excessive.
I don't really get the whole "beaten leather" usage on it. I understand you want a rustic kind of look, but that's like buying jeans with holes in them already. Doesn't make sense. But yeah, maybe if it was all the same texture but I think at that point, it would look like everything disappears.
To someone who wants that whole wildnerness look and feel this is for them, very few people will like it and its why we don't see many examples of these at all, this is actually the first time i've seen one, not just a Jeep but any SUV/Truck.
Just noticed that the gear stick knob is gold. :grin2: Whatever makes them happy I suppose. I'm more interested in knowing how much all that upholstery costs when you take into account materials and labor costs.
What's funny is as much as this is theme'd for the wilderness, all that suede on the interior isn't going to help someone that's putting this through the dirt and dragging some of that in, which has me thinking this will just be all show, never seeing it in action doing the sort of things it has the potential for.
The already worn suede and leather would get eaten very quickly if this were to under-go real hunters and their typical etiquette with vehicles lol. The typical rugged hunters are very "rough" for a lack of better words when it comes to their vehicles and the way they treat/maintain them.
Can't wait to see what people will come up with for the new JL. I can see hunter orientated mods like sturdier interior seats and storage space for their equipment.
I'm actually really surprised there are no gun racks implemented into this design. I think that would have helped a lot in terms of hunter-styling. Even a crossbow rack or something.
Funny you mentioned that, not even the cheap overhead racks were included, of all things to include that should have been it. But odds are it was also built for someone to use it day in and day out, gun rack might not be nearly as much of a priority.
That is true. I was just thinking if they were willing to throw 5 saddle bags into the back of the rear seats, I'm sure a rack wouldn't have been much more, especially the really nice simple one you posted there. I like that. Still retains functionality of the sunroof and your tool is in a convenient spot.
The saddlebags would be a fun addition if each individual piece can be removed and used as a separate carrier. That seems to be a practical way to go about it and something I may look into, but not with leather.
All this talk about what more they could have included has me thinking about exactly who was behind the project since its starting to seem less and less like a Jeep enthusiast and more of someone that's disconnected from it. Unless the project was rushed or something else.
That is true... and unfortunately there isn't any information pertaining to who the builder was. It could be the builders fault or just what the client was shooting for and wanted and they didn't go anything beyond it.
Or the owner just has some unique tastes. It's interesting what some Wrangler owners will do when it comes to interior customization. There are those like me who are fine with the factory interior, more money for the exterior!
You have a point and being that it was specifically made for a certain hunter, maybe that individual has their own setup in a JK right now, rendering another rack system useless.
Most gun owners I know stick to one setup as long as they have the same guns.
Great thing about Wranglers and individuals with hobbies, most of the time you can reuse modifications like gun mounts from one model to the next and there's something for everyone. The possibilities for both the interior and exterior are endless if you have the funds.
When you're a hobbyist, a lot of things you buy will be universal fit that you'll need to tailor and fit into your interior.
But because the Wrangler has such a simple layout, finding space and areas to fit things becomes quite easy
