We were hoping to see the new Wrangler Jl debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next January, but now Top Speed says that FCA won't be debuting anything there. Instead, they'll debut something the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas the week prior. Most likely, that won't be the new Wrangler since the CES is more for showing off electronics than off-road vehicles.

Now we have to wait longer...

Rumor has it that FCA is planning to reveal an autonomous Chrysler Pacifica minivan at CES. I think they were working with Google on that.

Maybe the Wrangler will debut at the 2017 Easter Jeep Safari, that's where Wrangler enthusiasts congregate every year.

Blah... don't really care to see an autonomous anything to be honest... or a Chrysler Pacifica.

Guess we just gotta wait a little bit longer for that 2017 Safari thing. If that's where the Wrangler enthusiasts flock towards, that's sounds like a great place to start.

You will even if you don't like the idea of owning one you will like the idea of all the idiots it takes away from the wheel since odds are those same folks don't like driving.

If the Grand Wagoneer actually comes to market then aside from the Pacifica it too might be what gets this tech. I just can't see the JL Wrangler getting it any sooner than those. But for now and the next few year it could get bits of autonomous tech which is very common to come across these days. Easiest way for them to go about this and condition Wrangler buyers.

I just hope FCA doesn't allot too much of their R&D budget into autonomous systems. Jeep needs some loving too, especially considering how much the brand brings in to FCA. What do you guys think Jeep should work on?

The Wrangler line up is an ATM machine for Jeep.

A lot of capital is required for development of that extent but they have no choice, it's the direction the industry is going. With how big FCA is i'm sure they have access to the sort of cash flow to make both efforts possible. They do own/operate 7+ brands after all, don't forget that.

They don't really have a choice but to allot a good amount of money into the autonomous r&d. The Pacifica had to get it because it created an impact in the market when it landed. The other vehicles that are making sales definitely are going to need it. They have to keep up with what everyone else is doing and progressing to. Autonomous tech is the future and it's better that they start working on it sooner rather than later.

Autonomous vehicles for commercial deployment is at the forefront of most large manufacturers now. Jeep of course won't be left at the curb because of it, but a bit of funding is taken from the brand and allocated elsewhere, just look at the Wagoneer's delay.

For those who are looking forward to the Wrangler JL, there's nothing to worry about as it is the most popular model under the Jeep badge. Just disappointed we won't be seeing the production model anytime soon.

2017 is going to be an interesting year, that's we'll finally see it since we don't this long of seeing test mules without finally seeing a production model.

Biggest thing coming up is the Detroit show, once that rolls around we should see something, even a teaser of the JL.

Jeep said they weren't going to debut any new vehicles at the Detroit show. Maybe the most we'll get are those teaser images that was originally shown to dealerships. would be nice if they did give us a somewhat clear image of the production model, but I'm not holding my breath for next January.

Now that would make sense and come to think about it car makers typically show preproduction models rolling around with less camo before it drops in full. We might have to wait for that first before an event happens.

Patience is the name of the game.

Someone mentioned something about a Jeep show where enthusiasts flock to that happens a bit after the Detroit auto show ? IIRC. But that is true @JeepFan , we haven't gotten any "naked" spy shots yet and those typically do surface before we get to see it released.
